korean dramas refer to movies or miniseries produced in the Korean language. The dramas are a part of the Korean fever or Korean wave or Hallyu, which is raging everywhere. The dramas are so popular that they even reach Latin America, the United States, Europe and the Middle East, not to mention countries in Asia.
Here are some of the Korean dramas that go around the world creating the Korean wave.


This is a popular 16-episode television drama broadcasted in 2004. Some of the cast members are Bi or Rain (a famaous Korean singer), Song Hye Kyo, Kim Sung Soo, and Han Eun Jung. It’s about a naive and cheergul girl, Han Ji Eub (Song Hye Kyo), who lost her house because of her best friends. They tricked her into going on holiday aboard and sold her her house while she was away. The house was bought by a famous actor, Lee Young Jae (Bi). To get her house back, she agreed to a contract marriage to Young Jae for a year. Little did she know that this contract marriage would turn her life upside down.


Princess hours was of most popular drama of 2006, second only to Jumong. Overall the show was the tenth most popular drama of 2006. This drama is taken from a best-selling comic book sold on the market whose title Goong by Park So Hee. It was broadcast from January 11 to March 30, 2006 on MBC and stars Yoon Eun Hye, Joo Ji Hoon, Kim Jeong Hoon and Song Ji-hyo.
Set in an alternate 21st-century reality where Korea possesses a royal family, since 1945 to present, this show revolves around the lives of the Crown Prince Lee Shin, and his new bride, Chae-kyeong.
The series starts off with the news that the King, Shin’s father, is very ill. With the grim outlook on the King’s health, the royal family scrambles to find a wife for Shin, so as to allow him to take over the royal throne if the situation requires. Despite being in love with another girl, the ambitious and talented ballerina Hyo-rin whom Shin initially proposed to (she rejects him to pursue her ballet dreams), Shin eventually marries a commoner to whom he was betrothed by his late grandfather in an old agreement with the girl’s grandfather. Shin marries the headstrong yet lovable Chae-kyeong after Hyo-rin’s rejection. Despite initially feeling nothing for Chae-kyeong, love eventually blossoms between the couple as time passes.
In the meantime, however, matters are further complicated with the return of Lee Yul and his mother Lady Hwa-Young, who was once the Crown Princess before the death of her husband, the late Crown Prince, older brother of the current King. Yul and his mother were chased out of the palace some time after the death of his father, and it is later revealed that this was due to the King’s discovery of an affair between Yul’s mother and the current King who was his father’s younger brother. Yul’s mother had returned with a sinister motive in mind; to restore her son back to the throne, which would have been his eventually, if his father had not died. A series of events befall the palace with the schemes Yul’s mother carries out, and is further intensified by the various scandals involving the royal family, which are inclusive of the Shin’s continuing relationship with his old flame Hyo-rin, and the budding love Yul develops for Chae-kyeong, his cousin’s new-found bride. Things gets out of hand and many incidents happened.
Shin visits Thailand. Hyo-rin meets him there and asks him to take her to the airport, setting him up for a date.


Brilliant Legacy or also known by the title Shining Inheritance would be a series of Korea’s most coveted audience after hearing kehebohannya last year. While still hot BBF discussed, the emergence of Brilliant Legacy that aired shortly after the BBF astonish the public with a spectacular ratings, up 41.3 percent! While that’s great BBF only score a maximum of 36 percent.

What makes drama directed by Jin Hyuk who worked on this so phenomenal, apparently not a luxury property and big budgets, nor the actors on board berhonor tens of million won. Duo Lee Sung Gi and Han Hyo Joo was not the duo of actor and actress who eagerly awaited, but it proved to successfully create the chemistry fit.

The series is worked out as a Korean drama in general. A typical Cinderella story with a love story that is predictable. There is a contradiction between the poor and the rich, love quadrangle, and the seizure of property.

But it must be admitted, outside duo Lee Seung Gi and Han Hyo Joo is pretty cute – many say in early episodes like Lee Seung Gi Han Hyo Joo Rain and Song Hye Kyo is similar in Full House, the series production of SBS TV has great power in convey a moral message.

Through the grandmother figure Jang, Soo Hyun Kyung screenwriters make plausible theory: people who just use common cunning in getting the property will not get true wealth. Real wealth and true love will be obtained by those willing to work hard and sincerely in the act.

In this series, Hwan Woo figure which is the grandson of wealthy entrepreneurs are required to work from bottom to service, with pocket money of 10 thousand won per day, without a credit card and luxury vehicles. If you do not want to work, do not expect to be living in luxury homes and good facilities.

Jan Di is an average girl whose family owns a dry cleaning store located near the luxurious and well known Shin Hwa College. Jan Di meets the four richest and most spoiled boys known as the F4. After saving a boy from jumping off the roof of Shinhwa High School, she is admitted into the school on a swimming scholarship. Jan Di tries to avoid confrontation with the F4 at all cost because she knows what happens to those that stand against them. However, when Jan Di’s friend, Oh Min Ji, accidentally gets ice cream on the leader of the F4’s shoes, she’s forced to declare war on the leader of the F4, Goo Joon Pyo. What will happen though, when she falls in love with someone from the F4 and Goo Joon Pyo start feeling something for her too? Will the love triangle disrupt F4 and change their lives forever?
